Tree Sprouts
 2011-2012
growing understanding through books

This year we will continue to create connections in Maine AND Hawaii through our outreach programs.  From September through June we will be visiting schools, libraries, hospitals, resource centers, and other public venues to present Tree Sprouts: a unique interactive learning event for children.  Tree Sproutexplores culture through dramatic storytelling, songs and movement, along with amazing recycled art projects!

why?
The main goal of this program is to help children and families increase their awareness and understanding of people, cultures, and nature.  In learning about others we naturally learn about ourselves and who we are in relation to the world around us.  Believing in ourselves empowers us to embrace both our differences and our similarities allowing us to become connected with all living things.  It also helps us to think and act with compassion.  The more people are motivated by kindness and compassion, the more hope we have of a peaceful world for our future.

These programs are offered at no charge to audiences or to the venues where they are held.  It is part of Bodhi Education Project’s mission as a nonprofit organization to make these educational opportunities available to as many families as possible.

here's the how...
Schedule Tree Sprouts at your location!!!

This is a free outreach program
that we hope to make available to as many families as possible.  Tree Sprouts groups are between 30 and 45 minutes in length and are designed for children 4 through 8 years of age and their caregivers.  We will provide the flyer and the e-newsletter promotions and we bring our own materials to the event.  We just need enough space for the storyteller an an audience (floor seating is perfect!)

who
...a little bit about the storyteller

Lindy Shapiro:  I LOVE books!  I love to read them, write them, and one of my favorite things of all is sharing the stories that I hear with my friends.  Tree Sprouts gives me a chance to take some really incredible books about fabulous places and amazing people and turn them up, down, and inside out to create new adventures.
